Treatments in Pediatric Dentistry:
- Dental hygiene: Prophylaxis and cleaning instructions (preventive)
- Caries prevention: Fissure sealing, fluoride (preventive)
- Treatment of caries: The appearance of caries is very fast in the temporary teeth. In cases where caries is “small”, in pediatric dentistry we can restore it with a filling or filling with aesthetic material.
- Pulp treatment (pulpotomy, pulpectomy): If the caries partially reaches the pulp (nerve of the tooth) we perform a Pulpotomy. Pulpotomy consists in the removal of the affected part of the nerve, then proceed to the sealing and restoration of the tooth with a stainless steel crown, or crowns of high aesthetic requirement.
- Maintainers of space: The early loss of temporary teeth requires a SPECIAL ATTENTION, since it can suppose the loss of space causing “collapse” for the subsequent exit of the definitive teeth. In these cases it is advisable to place the devices called Space Maintainers, whose shape will vary with respect to the missing tooth or teeth.
